Hello, I'm Akhil. Glad you stopped by.

I'm a design engineer — I design products, then build them. I've spent 11 years shaping product experiences across B2B SaaS, AI, and data infrastructure. Right now I lead design at Hevo Data, where I built the design system and Figma variables end-to-end for an 8-person team.

Before that, I built the design system at Clazar from the ground up, along with an entity framework that cut design-to-dev time on new features. At Simbian.ai I designed the core product experience for an AI-native cybersecurity platform. At MessagePlus I designed the product from scratch — the app, the website, the pitch decks — across several project cycles.

Most of what I do starts in Claude, not Figma. I use Claude Code to build and maintain design systems, prototype working UIs, and run research workflows; Figma comes in later, for variables and visual precision. Fewer handoffs, and design that's closer to production from day one.

Outside client work, I ship my own products. Handled is a native SwiftUI app for iOS and macOS — notes, meeting transcription, calendar sync — shipped to the App Store. Decode File helps people understand contracts and offer letters before they sign them. And I built a small design-token toolkit — a Chrome extension and Figma plugin that pulls colors and type off any live site.
